This course focuses on the importance of form, composition and value. You will learn the most effective use of various drawing materials: graphite pencils, charcoal pencils, erasers. and drawing paper. You will also learn skills that can enable you to accomplish visual effects that can add depth, dimension and weight to your drawings. We will explore and consider how various drawing techniques can create wonderful textures, add atmospheric perspective, and broaden your understanding of drawing as an artform. Examples of how to begin and finish an academic drawing will be demonstrated in easy steps in class. The goal is to learn and have fun.

  • Graphite pencils, HB, 1B, 2B, 24B, 6B, 8B, 4H, 2H, H.  These can be found at Michael's stores and are usually sold in a set.
