EXPLORING COLOR/COLOR MIXING

"Color-Mixing"-Color concepts and terms will be de-mystified through discussion and hands-on color mixing. Using the color wheel we will explore how to choose and master color combinations for the effect that suits your own media and art process. This class will eliminate hesitation about how to use color in your work. Learn how to use color and express the message and mood that supports your work. Unique color palettes will be developed and sketchbook archived for future use.
Supplies to bring to class:
Color wheel
Spiral bound wire sketchbook. Paper should be thick enough to paint on without bleeding through and buckling. Size: closest to 9" x 12"
Golden brand fluid acrylic paint 1 oz. bottles
Benzimidazolone-Yellow Light
Cadmium Yellow-Medium Hue
Carbon Black
Phthalo Blue-Green Shade
Pyrrole Red
Quinacridone Magenta
Titanium White
Ultramarine Blue
Optional-Yellow Oxide and Burnt Sienna
Palette knife-inexpensive plastic ok
Disposable palette paper pad. Size 9"x12" Freezer paper also works
Bienfang Canvasette paper Canvas pad 9"x 12" size for practice color studies
3/4" flat paintbrush. Feel free to bring other paintbrushes from your collection
Spray bottle for water
Paper towels or old cloth rags,
Container for water.
Pencil
Ruler
Scissors
INSPIRATION: Bring examples of color palettes that you love. Can be: prints of your own photos. wallpaper or fabric scraps, pages from magazines, copies of old master paintings, copies of pages from books. Bring LOTS OF THESE!
