MARBLING PAPER WORKSHOP
Workshop | Registration opens 4/14/26 9:00 AM EDT
Learn the ancient art of marbling on paper with this intensive workshop. Students will explore patterns and designs by marbling on a variety of paper. We will also explore color combinations and marbling techniques through both traditional (Ebru) and non-traditional approaches. Students can expect to make a variety of prints, patterns and discoveries.
Marbling consists of suspending inks on a bed of thickened water (carageenan). These inks are raked through a series of swirls, zigzags, and other gestures to transform a given design. The outcome is then printed, similiar to mono printing, on a surface of choice.
Beginner through intermediate students are welcome. Previous experience with marbling is not necessary; a thorough introduction and series of demonstrations will guide students through the workshop experience.
