LEADERSHIP LEARNING LAB: Financial Leadership I - Fundamentals of Financial Leadership
Virtual Live Class | Available
Let’s be honest, no (or very few) nonprofit leaders join their organizations because they enjoy accounting. But, like it or not, management staff and board members must understand the financial drivers of their organization. This workshop introduces and engages participants in an in-depth discussion around the tenets of financial leadership and how organizations can embrace them. We’ll discuss how best to staff the finance function and the different roles and responsibilities between staff and board members. Lastly, we’ll discuss accounting policies and procedures and internal controls, offered in an easy-to-implement manner.
Following this session, participants will understand:
- Their role as financial leaders within an organization.
- The different levels of activities within the finance function of an organization and options for staffing.
- The purpose of internal controls and key aspects to ensure accuracy of financial information.
- How to read the Statement of Financial Position and Statement of Activities.
