FutureStrong Succession Planning Cohort is a learning cohort that will lead up to 20 nonprofit organizations in developing customized, board-ready succession plans through a blend of interactive group training and 1:1 executive coaching. Designed for mid- to large-size nonprofits (annual budget $1,000,000+), this program emphasizes sustainability, leadership development, and preparation for a strong continuum.

Program Structure 

  • 8-month Cohort Experience - Learn alongside peer organizations facing similar challenges, sharing insights and building lasting professional relationships 

  • 3 group training sessions + Capstone Lab - Interactive workshops that build knowledge systematically, culminating in a hands-on session to finalize your plans 

  • 15 Hours of 1:1 Coaching - Personalized guidance tailored to your organization's unique needs, challenges, and succession planning goals 


Program Dates
 

  • Session 1: Foundations of Succession Planning - Thursday, October 23 – 9:30 am – 1:30 pm 

  • Session 2: Talent Mapping & Leadership Readiness - Thursday, December 18 – 9:30 am – 1:30 pm 

  • Session 3: Drafting Your Succession Plan - Thursday, March 19 - 9:30 am – 1:30 pm 

  • Capstone Presentation - Thursday, May 14 – 9:30 am – 1:30 pm 

  • Completion Ceremony - Thursday, June 18 – 11:30 am – 2:00 pm 


Coaching Component
 

  • Biweekly, 1:1 Sessions 

  • 15 – 1-hour sessions to maintain momentum (set on your team’s schedule) 

  • Address challenges and ensure continuous progress on your succession planning goals. 

  • Custom Support for Each Organization 

  • Personalized guidance that addresses your specific organizational culture, structure, and succession planning needs. 

  • Plan Refinement & Board Preparation 

  • Support to polish your succession plan 

  • Prepare for successful presentation to your board of directors 

 

Tools and Templates provided 

  1. Succession Planning Checklist - Step-by-step guidance to ensure you address every critical component of effective succession planning. 

  1. Critical Role Identification Tool - Framework for mapping essential positions and defining the competencies required for success in each role. 

  1. Pipeline Tracker System for monitoring talent development progress and identifying high-potential team members for advancement. 

  1. Emergency Succession Template - Ready-to-implement protocol for managing unexpected leadership departures with confidence and clarity. 

 

Investment & Commitment 

  • Open to nonprofit organizations with operating budget of $1M or more 

  • Commit to all training and coaching sessions 

  • Comprehensive Program Investment $500 invoiced by Community Foundation of Broward upon registration 

  • Those completing the full program will receive an action grant to help implement their plan
