Strong organizations plan for leadership transitions before they become urgent. Whether a leadership change is years away or could happen unexpectedly, succession planning is one of the most important investments a nonprofit can make in its long-term sustainability and mission success.

This introductory information session offers nonprofit leaders an opportunity to assess their organization's readiness for leadership transitions and explore what effective succession planning looks like in practice. Participants will gain insight into common risks associated with a lack of planning, the benefits of a proactive approach, and the key components of a strong succession strategy.

The session also serves as an introduction to the FutureStrong Succession Planning Cohort, an intensive 8-month program designed to guide up to 10 nonprofit organizations through the development of a customized, board-ready succession plan. Through a combination of peer learning, interactive training, and individualized executive coaching, participants build practical tools and strategies that strengthen organizational resilience, leadership continuity, and long-term sustainability.

Attendance at the information session does not require a commitment to participate in the cohort. However, attendees will receive priority access to cohort registration should they choose to apply.
