Course Description

Painting form photographs has its pitfalls. If the photo is terrific, it is best to frame it, not paint it. But it can be done! In this workshop we will work at improving the design of the photographic material we bring, then approach the painting. Demonstrations will include redesign, and trying several value patterns to find the "best" one.

(intermediate/advanced teens are welcome)

Required Supplies

Bring your usual watercolor paints and brushes, a sketchbook and 5-7 hard copy photographs. it is a good idea to bring close-ups as well as more inclusive images. the recommended paper is Arches 140# or 300#. bring 2 full 22 x 30 sheets, tape and a board to work on.

Jane Miluski

Jane Miluski's Website Jane has co-taught plein air workshops in Tuscany, Scotland and Sicily, and has taken groups to Jamaica to paint on location. She also conducts workshops for groups in the tri-state area. Her work was featured in “American Artist” magazine in 2004. A signature member of both the Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania Watercolor Societies, she was the first woman elected president of the Philadelphia Watercolor Society. She has also served on the boards of the Rittenhouse Square Fine Arts Annual, the Delaware Valley Art League, the Artists’ Guild of Delaware County, and the Community Arts Center. http://www.janebmiluski.com/
