How does one make sense of all there is to see outside? How do you decide what will make a good painting? How do you show atmosphere and light and make an ordinary scene extraordinary. Plein air painting is a wonderful adventure, paint outside and all your senses will be involved in creating your unique vision of the world. Enjoy a one day plein air workshop on the beautiful Community Arts Center grounds and start to explore these ideas.

  • All painting mediums are welcome but students should be comfortable using what ever they bring. All students should also bring a sketchbook and something to draw with. Also bring a French easel or drawing board if you have one. regular easels will be provided.
  • *(for very first time beginners: A sketchbook, pencil, pen and colored pencils are a great starting point especially if you are not sure you have the supplies to paint outdoors. along with painting techniques, supplies for painting outdoors will be discussed, so if you are unsure of what painting materials to purchase in order to continue your plein air experience beyond the time frame of the workshop, wait to buy equipment until after the workshop. the instructor will outline for you how to prepare to paint outside and the best painting set up to use.
