A mosaic is a pattern or picture made using many small objects (traditionally stone, tile and glass) that are arranged in a design and attached to a surface, then the spaces in between the objects are filled in with grout resulting in a solid flat surface. This ancient art form can be found all over the world and pieces can date back as far as the third millennium!
In this workshop you will have the unique opportunity to learn the process of creating your own colorful, beautiful mosaics. We will learn how to compose, design and make a piece of mosaic art from start to finish to take home and enjoy. Beginners can start by making a small frame or trivet. From there you can progress to making a table top, stepping stones for your garden or any other personal project you wish to explore.

  • a materials fee of $30 will be paid to the instructor in class which will provide you with basic tools, tiles and grout for the duration of the workshop, as well as the supplies needed for your first project (either a trivet or frame) if you wish to do it. You are welcome and encouraged to bring your own special tiles, substrate or tools if you wish. Dave will also be happy to guide you if you wish to purchase your own tools for use in class as well as home use after the workshop.
