Designed with the whole family in mind, this interactive afternoon will introduce you to the exhibition, Pattern, in the CAC's Duke Gallery. Artists and teachers, Marie Simons and Lindsay Jamison, will provide adults and children with an in-depth look at the exhibit filled with engaging activities and lively discussion.

Kids will then head to the studio to create their own patterned artwork inspired by the exhibition. Grown-ups are welcome to stick around the studio or head back to the Duke Gallery to enjoy the exhibition opening (including a glass of wine), which runs from 2 to 4 pm.

  • Cost is $15 per child; there is no charge for adults.

Jamison, Lindsay

Lindsay Jamison is a visual artist, yoga and mindfulness instructor, workshop presenter and retreat facilitator. Based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she loves traveling, adventure and being immersed in the natural world. Her mission is to make visual art, yoga and mindfulness accessible to heal, inspire, empower and educate our community at large. By exploring the constructs of the self using mandalas, mixed media art, movement and mindfulness practices, she has gained deep insight into her life’s purpose. Currently, she is offering a variety of classes and workshops for self development; planning a yoga retreat to Peru; co-facilitating a women's festival called Emakume Gathering in Ridley Creek State Park; and offering transformative life skills to the community. Simons, Marie

Marie Simons is a Reiki/Meditation/ and Zentangle® teacher. Her practice is at Wellness On Park in Swarthmore and she: works with cancer patients of all ages at several Philadelphia area hospitals; gives workshops and seminars at local universities and for private groups; teaches and certifies teachers and medical staff in Reiki; and works with autistic children teaching Zentangle® and meditation. Marie teaches Zentangle® and meditation at the Community Arts Center, as well as for corporate retreats, local community center workshops for elderly and teens, and for private parties. Currently, she is offering a variety of classes and workshops for self development in the area; attending continuing education conferences and professional retreats; planning a mindfulness retreat to Peru in August 2017; and offering transformative life skills to the community.
