Students will learn the basics of one of the oldest forms of printmaking. This class introduces students to methods for carving wood blocks and printing both by hand and with a press. Materials used will include non-toxic block printing inks, watercolors, and both Japanese and Western printmaking papers. Students will look at examples of woodcuts from throughout history and around the world. At the end of the session, students will have created several prints both in color and black and white, as well as an edition for a print exchange with fellow participants. Instructor: Martha Knox
