Online: Portrait, Figure Drawing & Bas-Relief

Fall Class | This course has been canceled

In "Portrait and Figure Drawing and Bas-Relief" six weeks online class students will learn to represent the human face and figure in drawings and bas-relief.

First two weeks they will work on a drawing from picture of the model in pencil, then students will start working on bas-relief in clay, learning to transfer the tracings of their drawings on clay and start sculpting. We will study the planes and proportions of human face and body, learn how to sculpt the forms of a body and facial features in bas-relief.

Clay can be purchased in advance and picked up from the Community Art center, finished reliefs will be fired in a kiln at the center. Demonstrations illustrating the anatomy and proportions of the head and body and instructions and demonstrations on techniques of drawing and sculpting relief will be given by the instructor.

All levels are welcome.
