This open studio is a great opportunity for intermediate and advanced students to come together with their jewelry making peers.

The class will be held outdoors on the side driveway.

Registrants will be making silver jewelry components. Salt casting, Ice water casting, broom casting, and cuttlebone casting will all be explored.

  • Studio Coordinator: Maxine Burkholder
    • Please wear closed toed shoes and socks, plus cotton clothing.
    • Long pants and long sleeves are required as you will be pouring molten metal.
    • Safety glasses are also required, but there will be safety face shields available.

  • Please Note:  This class is planned as an in person class and we expect that it will run the full semester in person.  However, there is an ongoing need to adhere to guidance and safety practices in order to safely manage the COVID-19 situation.  The guidelines from state government and public health authorities change as time progresses and the CAC may need to make adjustments accordingly.

    • Scrap sterling or fine silver. Some scrap will be available for sale.
    • Cuttlebones—available at pet shops. Get largest possible size (smalls are really too small). There will only be a few available for sale.
