This 4 week hand-building and carving class is an opportunity to explore the importance of creating a dynamic edge when sculpting, as well as developing your personal edge as an artist. The focus will be on the building of strong sculptural form. Glazing and surface decoration will not be covered.

This class will take place in the wheel room but students can spread out into the ceramics studio annex for extra table-space.

  • Clay is not included in lab fee.
Clay purchased with your registration must be picked up in the semester it is purchased.
Clay can be purchased as needed during a semester in the office.

  • Please bring basic clay tools, available for purchase at the CAC.

Wendy Liss is an artist, designer, and educator. Her current work consists of hand-built ceramic sculptures and outdoor installations that explore various clay bodies and firing methods. Inspired by nature and the human figure, Liss works out of her studio in the suburbs of Philadelphia where her creative process is driven by the energy and environment she is in.

Liss earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts (‘84) and an Art Education Certification(‘85) from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, PA.

Her work is shown throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and is available through InLiquid, The Art Shop at Moore College of Art and Design, and Parisa Rugs & Decor in Old City Philadelphia.
