Using Clay in a Completely Different Way

Winter Workshop | Registration opens Wednesday, November 6, 2024 12:00 AM EST

In this workshop you will learn the fascinating technique of printing from clay, an innovative and unique printmaking process developed by Mitch Lyons. Clay, as it is typically used, creates three-dimensional objects that require firing. This art form takes it in another direction by creating two-dimensional pieces of art (prints) from a slab of clay. Using colored slip and utilizing textures, stencils and pastels, you’ll be amazed at the stunning and sophisticated clay monoprints you’ll make. The technique is remarkably simple. Even if you think you have no artistic ability, you’ll be successful using this art form.
