Wheel Throwing & Much More!

Winter Class | FULL

This class will boost your confidence as you learn new throwing skills that eliminate trouble spots like heavy bottoms, uneven walls, awkward handles and ill-fitting lids to name a few. We will also explore altering wheel thrown pieces along with some hand building ideas. We will end the semester with a RAKU firing!  All levels of experience are welcome.

  • Clay is not included in the supply fee.  Clay purchased with your registration needs to be pick up in this semester.  Clay puchases do not carry over from one semester to the next when purchased with the class.  Clay can be purchased in the office as needed throughout the semester.

Students who wish to fire work in the soda kiln and are currently registered in a class that is not soda kiln specific can do so for an additional $20 fee per semester. You will be sent instructions with specifics for firing in the Soda Kiln at the beginning of the semester. Please call or stop by the office to sign up..
  • Please bring basic clay tools, available for purchase at the CAC.

I am an artist; it’s not what I do, but simply who I am and always have been. I started with two dimensional art, and still work as a graphic designer, then I touched clay! I molded, I pinched, threw, manipulated, wedged, pressed, paddled, assembled . . . clay. I loved the feel of it. The simplicity. Clay drew me in and has yet to let me go! I embraced the joy and therapy of “playing in clay.” My work has often been described as animated. I attribute the “life” in my pieces to my ability to keep it fun and playfully loose.

I now enjoy sharing that joy of  “playing in clay” through teaching at The Community Art Center.
