9-Day Workshop: Creating with Found Materials
Summer Workshop | Available
Discover the beauty of working with what's close at hand! In this hands-on workshop, we'll explore our surroundings to find inspiration and materials to shape unique tea bowls, sake cups, and tokkuri. With just clay and creativity, we will craft vessels that reflect a sense of place and resourcefulness. Join us for nine days of firing, making, experimenting, and reimagining what's possible with what we have nearby!

Inayoshi Osamu
Inayoshi Osamu is a Japanese ceramic artist deeply inspired by nature, tradition, and the philosophy of craftsmanship. His journey into pottery began at the age of 22 after the passing of his grandfather, when he felt a deep calling to create meaningful ceramic works. He trained in Seto and Mino, immersing himself in the rich history of Minoyaki and later discovering Atsumiyaki, an ancient pottery tradition from his hometown.
Guided by themes of fusion of the Middle Ages and modern times and harmony with nature, Inayoshi blends historical techniques with contemporary aesthetics, using sustainable materials and honoring the beauty of handcraft. Through his work, he seeks to preserve and share the depth of Japanese traditions in an age of rapid modernization.
Believing that pottery transcends borders, he values the connections forged through his craft and remains dedicated to refining his art, embracing the lifelong pursuit of his ideals. Inayoshi Osamu is traveling from Japan to lead this special workshop at the Community Arts Center, offering participants a rare opportunity to learn directly from his expertise and artistic philosophy.
