Animation Basics for Teens

Spring Class | Available

Students will be introduced to the techniques and principles used in the art of animation, including pixilation, replacement animation, stop motion, and traditional on-paper animation. This class will outline methods used to achieve smooth naturalistic motion, and demonstrate how students can assemble the individual pictures they've made into animation footage. The goal of this class is to make the basics of animation accessible to participants and introduce paths towards pursuing animation long after the conclusion of the class.

Please note there is a materials fee of $35 paid to the instructor on the first day of class (in addition to online enrollment fees) to supply each participant with a light table and gooseneck phone holder that they can keep after the class. Students should bring a smart phone to use an animation app in class.

Schedule Notes:
This is an 8-week class meeting on Tuesdays 3/17/26 - 5/12/26.
No class on Tuesday 3/31/26. The Community Arts Center will be closed for Spring Break from 3/29/26-4/5/26.

  • Please complete a Student Information Form for each child attending a semester class or workshop.
    Form URL:
    https://reg127.imperisoft.com/Pages/System/File.aspx?id2=6556

Fill out and save the form to your computer and email it to info@communityartscenter.org. We must have this form filled out, signed and returned to the CAC office before the start of your child's class or workshop.

If your child is a WSSD student and plans to take the bus directly from school to Community Arts Center:
    - You must make the bus selection when registering for this program AND indicate the same on the Student Information Form.
    - Contact your child’s school/teacher directly to make them aware of the day/days your child is being bussed to the Community Arts Center to ensure they travel on the correct bus on the appropriate days.
    -
Those selecting the bus option after MARCH 2 cannot be guaranteed after-school bus transportation to CAC the first week of Spring Semester

If your child will not be attending a class please let the office know by calling 610-566-1713 x11 or emailing info@communityartscenter.org.

    Thank you.
