Wood Kiln Firing - May 2026

Firing takes place Friday 5/8/2026, Saturday 5/9/2026, & Sunday 5/10/2026.
Artists are required to arrive at 9:00am on the day of drop off, Friday 5/8/2026. The scheduling of work shifts will be confirmed at this time. Each participant will need to be available to work 2 shifts per share for approximately 6 hours each. The work shift schedule will be created at 10am on Friday 5/8.
If prepping your work at CAC you must schedule your prep date and time with the office by calling 610-566-1713.
PREP DATES/TIMES:
Work needs to be completely prepared for loadings on Friday, which means it is already glazed and wadded.
Glazing and wadding times available at CAC:
- Wednesday 5/6 from 9:30am to 6:00pm
- Thursday 5/7 from 2:45pm to 6:00pm
- Alternatively, you can glaze and wad your work at home.
UNLOAD DATE/TIME: Saturday 5/16, 10:00am
We only sell full shares. A share is 5 cubic feet (12 inches x 24 inches x 30 inches).
***If you want to split a share, call the office with the names of the individuals with whom you are splitting the share. 610-566-1713. We need this information prior to loading on Friday!***

“All of my tea bowls are hand formed and carved without the use of a potters wheel. I strive for organic forms that are unique ceramic sculptures that are comfortable in the hand and feel natural to hold and drink from. I try to give each piece a complex, naturalistic surface by adding materials such as small stones, ground up rocks, sand and ground up iron to the clay and glazes and by firing with wood whenever possible to add wood ash to the surface instead of or in addition to glaze. Many of my pieces are fired multiple times to build up layers of wood ash or to layer glazes over wood ash or other glazes. I follow the same process for all of my ceramic art.
Every tea bowl that I have ever seen, handled or used, subconsciously influences my work which then, in turn, will also influence my future work. A tea bowl is a seemingly simple form that is actually quite complex, so that the quest to make the perfect tea bowl is an endless one but also one that I will never grow tired of. I also enjoy making other tea wares, jars, vases and sculptures. I have been a full time ceramic artist since 2011.
