Course Description

This intermediate/advanced oil painting course is for students who have a firm understanding of foundational painting techniques and principles including proportion, measurement techniques, color mixing/theory, and basic composition. Still life, landscape, and figurative subjects will be covered. Throughout the semester students will have the option of working from a live model for an additional fee which will be paid in class.

SCHEDULE NOTES:
This class meets 12 times on nonconsecutive Fridays from 9/18/26 to 12/11/26.
No class on Friday 11/27/26.
The Community Arts Center will be closed for Thanksgiving Break from 11/26/26-11/28/26.

Required Supplies

Bristle brushes 2 or 3 different sizes, Palette and painting knives, Dippers (cups), Linseed oil
Painting surfaces: canvas, masonite board or wooden panel
Solvent: turpenoid
Oil paints in the following colors:
-Titanium white
-Cadmium yellow (lemon)
-Cadmium yellow deep or medium
-Sap green
-Cadmium red light
-Alizarin crimson
-French ultramarine
-Pthalo blue
-Ivory or other black

Matiko Mamaladze

Matiko Mamaladze's Website Matiko Mamaladze was born in 1964 in Tbilisi, Georgia. She grew up in an artistic family, surrounded by her mother’s and grandfather’s paintings. They were a source of inspiration to Matiko and encouraged her to study art. The creative atmosphere she was immersed in influenced her to such an extent, that from early times drawing and painting became necessities she couldn’t imagine herself without. Matiko studied in the Nikoladze Art School and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tbilisi. Matiko’s work is figurative and centers on subjects, which she finds unique and interesting. Matiko Mamaladze is an award-winning artist and her paintings can be found in many private collections across Europe and The United States. http://www.matiko.us/
