Animation Basics for Teens

Animation Basics is a brief, low-stakes introduction to animation as an artistic medium, geared towards those who have an interest in creating animations, but aren’t sure how it works or even whether it’s something they’d like. Students will learn how to use basic animation tools and some fundamental animation principles that professional animators have used across 2D, 3D, and stop-motion animation in the shows and movies we all know and love.
Please note:
-Students must bring a smart phone to use an animation app in class.
-A materials fee of $20 paid to CAC during registration covers access to light tables and other art supplies and equipment while in class.
-Students are more than welcome to bring in action figures, Legos, and other toys that they would like to animate! Toys with more rigid joints will be the easiest to animate, but if students are interested in trying to animate looser, floppier toys, I would be happy to let them try to do so!

This is a 4-week class meeting on Tuesdays 9/15/26 - 10/6/26.
- Guardians must complete a Student Information Form for each child (below the age of 18) attending a semester class or workshop.

Fill out, sign, and email the form to info@communityartscenter.org. This form must be returned to the CAC office BEFORE the first class date.
If your child will not be attending a class please let the office know by calling 610-566-1713 x11 or emailing info@communityartscenter.org.

Aidan Chen
'Aidan is a multi-disciplinary freelance animator. Born in Delaware County and graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design with an Award of Distinction from their Film/Animation/Video Department, his films have been selected for screenings in film festivals worldwide. Having taken classes at the CAC as a child, he now seeks to give back to the community. Aidan was previously the substitute teacher for Cartooning, as well as an aide for its most recent Summer Spree.
