Building your Own Pastel Painting Substrate

Fall Workshop | Available

This workshop will show you how to create a vibrant acrylic underpainting by building your own substrate. You’ll learn how to add depth and texture to your pastel paintings, make color pop, and loosen up your technique. Pushing the abstract envelope, this process begins with planning the composition and developing an underpainting, then moves into painting landscapes quickly and expressively with bold color and strong values. This workshop is ideal for artists who find that sanded pastel paper no longer offers enough control or flexibility and who want to explore more surface options and creative possibilities.
