Course Description

Join Bob Deane and Mark Tyson in making big pots to be fired in the wood kiln! This intensive class includes lots of time to create work as well as firing the wood kiln. This is a handbuilding class.

Class will take place from 2 - 5 pm on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays for a 3 week period from June 22 - July 11.

The wood firing will take place on July 22 - 24. All students will be expected to participate in firing the wood kiln and taking several 6 hour shifts. Loading the kiln will take place on July 22 starting at 9 am.

Special Notes

Please Note: This class is planned as an in person class and we expect that it will run the full semester in person. However, there is an ongoing need to adhere to guidance and safety practices in order to safely manage the COVID-19 situation. The guidelines from state government and public health authorities change as time progresses and the CAC may need to make adjustments accordingly. It is possible that this class will transition to an online format at some point during the semester. In this case, tuition refunds will not be issued unless the CAC is unable to provide the same number of class sessions as initially planned either in person or in a remote format.

Robert Deane

Bob Deane's Website Bob Deane is a potter and painter who was raised in the Media, PA area. He earned a B.F.A in Ceramics from Bloomsburg University in 1988. His work has been shown in many local stores and galleries. Recently, Bob has been immersed in working with local creek clay and discovering the connection between the ground he walks on and the artwork he creates. He currently teaches at the Community Arts Center in Wallingford, PA, at the Mainline Art Center and the Wayne Arts Center both on Philadelphia’s Main Line. Bob has been a member of the Wallingford Potter’s Guild since 1991.
