The goal of this class is garner a better understanding of the proportions of the human face and create a believable and convincing likeness of the subject.

Each week the teacher will lead a guided drawing, using reference photos, in a step by step process to draw a face, or facial features, and then through graphite, charcoal and pastel add shading and/or color.

Julie AngelaTheresa is an oil painter and art teacher. Before earning her MFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, she was the gallery manager of the Cambridge Artists' Cooperative in Harvard Square. She was the Joy Street Open Studios Coordinator for 13 years, and a board member of the Brickbottom Artists Association for 6 years. She regularly exhibits in both local shows in Massachusetts and around the country, most recently winning the Jury Prize for the 76th regional Exhibition at the Arnot Art Museum in New York. Her work is in numerous public collections including the Boston Public Library, the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center. Julie's current painting are inspired by her two children's love of tape and "decorating" the entire house with it.
