Winslow Homer was a remarkable American artist who furthered the field of watercolor painting, especially plein air landscapes. This special workshop will look at Homer's life as well as his artwork, analyzing his unique method of using watercolor paints. Then, we will use Homer's processes and techniques to create our own 'Homer-like" watercolor landscape! This workshop is designed for both beginner and more experienced painting. Following registration, you will receive an email with information, including a materials list. The Zoom Link will be sent to you just prior to the workshop.

Margie Samuels is an experienced watercolor artist and art teacher. Graduating with honors from Brandeis University, she majored in fine arts, then went on to study painting at both the Arts Student League in New York and the New Jersey Center for Visual Arts. Over the years, Samuels has painted with Mitchell Siporin, Elaine DeKooning, Nancy Korde, Tony Van Hasselt, Skip Lawrence, Don Andrews, Mel Stabin and others. Samuels has her own studio in West Caldwell where she teaches classes and workshops. In addition, each summer Samuels teaches a plein air workshop at the InView Center for the Arts, in Landgrove, Vermont. Samuels shows and sells her own paintings through various arts organizations as well as local and out-of-state galleries. She is a Signature Member of the New Jersey Watercolor Society, the Garden State Watercolor Society and the Essex Watercolor Club. She has also won numerous awards for her paintings. Samuels has an impressionistic style with a strong sense of composition; her paintings invite the viewer in through exciting brushwork and color combinations.
