How can a picture serve as an entry point into a story? In this workshop, you will bring in a family photograph that is special to you. We will look at a few examples of essays whose authors used photos to do creative storytelling. You’ll use your photograph to do some descriptive writing and then explore the time period when the photograph was taken. By the end of class, you’ll have created a flash essay that widens the lens beyond your family photo--you may be surprised by how much you have to say!

**Participants have the opportunity to have their finished pieces published in a digital journal for FYACS by our HS team.
