Description: In this 2.5 hour per week ceramics class, potters may alternate time on the potter’s wheel and time hand-building. Students will learn and practice basic ceramic techniques. There will be enough wheels in the course for students to wheel-throw for the entire session, should they desire to do so. Supplies and firing costs included in the fee. Class is capped at 5 and must have 4 enrolled to run.

Class Type: This is a ceramics class. Students can alternate spending time on the wheel, hand-building, and decorating / glazing. Students who would like to focus on wheel-throwing only, hand-building only, or try both may do so. 

Age Group:
This is an 18+ class. Students who do not meet this age criteria must contact ceramics@fyamelrose.org to ask for permission to participate. 

FAQ: When will pieces be ready for pick-up? The minimum amount of time to get a ceramic piece out of the glaze kiln is 2-3 weeks after the session ends.

Alessia O’Brien is a ceramicist and printmaker based in Melrose, MA. Their approach to art is tactile, organic, and fun, with a soft spot for functional work. They graduated from the New Hampshire Institute of Art in 2016, and have been a working artist since.
