Course description: In this semi-private 2.5 hour per week wheel-throwing class, novice potters and potters with some introductory wheel-throwing experience will receive personalized instruction to learn and practice the basics of wheel-throwing with brown stoneware clay. Students will practice centering, pulling walls, and trimming to form finished functional ceramic ware. Supplies and firing costs included in the fee. Class is capped at 5 and must have 4 enrolled to run. Supplies and firing costs included in the fee. The studio provides tools; however, you are welcome to bring your own.

Age Group: This is an 18+ class. Students who do not meet this age criteria must contact ceramics@fyamelrose.org to ask for permission to participate, but such a request is not a guarantee of enrollment.

Class Type: This is a wheel-throwing class. Each student will be guaranteed a spot on one of our 4 wheels in the studio to practice their wheel-throwing skills. This class takes place at the same time as a 2-person hand-building class, also taught by instructor Michelle Ramadan.

FAQ: When will pieces be ready for pick-up? The minimum amount of time to get a ceramic piece out of the glaze kiln is 2-3 weeks after the session ends.

Michelle is a small-batch artisan potter and owner of Meesh Pottery. She has multiple years of classroom teaching experience. She works out of her home studio in Melrose and loves all things pottery!
