Description: In this 2 hour per week ceramics class, our 11-14 year old potters will learn and develop their skills at wheel-throwing (centering, pulling, and shaping), hand-building, decorating, and glazing pottery. 

Dates: The class meets 6 times. 4/27, 5/4, 5/11, 5/18, 5/25, 6/8. Note: The studio is closed on 6/1 Memorial Day Week.

Age Group: Only students in the age range listed in the course title are eligible for enrollment. Students who do not meet the age criteria must contact ceramics@fyamelrose.org to ask for permission to participate.

  • Additional Information: Classes must have 4 enrolled to run. Instruction, materials, and firing costs included in the fee. The studio provides tools. We use brown stoneware clay.

Alessia O’Brien is a ceramicist and printmaker based in Melrose, MA. Their approach to art is tactile, organic, and fun, with a soft spot for functional work. They graduated from the New Hampshire Institute of Art in 2016, and have been a working artist since.
