The United States is often described as a nation of immigrants, yet immigrants are also seen as "the other." We will explore our complex immigration history, including who came here, why, and how they were received. We will also discuss examples of current and historical contributions of first-generation immigrants toward shaping the U.S., Pennsylvania, Centre County, and Penn State.
