Celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. Established for the month of May, Asian Pacific American Heritage Month recognizes the contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States.

The first Asians arrived on the North American continent in 1763. But the history of Asians in the United States is not widely known, and even today they are often considered perpetual immigrants by many. We will explore the diverse Asian American experience, the historical and present-day context of the recent uptick in anti-Asian hate, and the contributions of Asian Americans.

Dr. Nalini Krishnankutty is a first-generation immigrant and Asian American writer, educator and speaker, who is active in local and statewide efforts to build diverse, equitable, and inclusive organizations and communities.

This course will be held online via Zoom. The zoom link for the course will be emailed two days before to the course date.
