Learn about the Pennsylvania mushroom industry and the role that Penn State has in helping growers. This course will provide a tour of the state-of-the-art mushroom research center and allow participants to view a variety of mushroom crops currently being studied at Penn State.

Instructor: Dr. John Pecchia is an associate research professor of plant pathology and environmental microbiology and serves as the director of the Mushroom Research Center and the Mushroom Spawn Laboratory at Penn State. Dr. Pecchia has managed the mushroom research facilities at Penn State for the past 15 years and has worked closely with North American mushroom growers researching cultivation and disease management issues.

  • Meet at the south end of the building (closest to campus). Parking is available at the nearby campus visitor parking lot (pay for parking via pay station and ParkMobile app payment 95123). More parking information will be shared before the course.
