Join Alan Sam, former State College Borough's Arborist, on a walk along the trails in Walnut Springs Park. This is the only park in the Borough with a stream, wetlands, and historic sites from our region's past. The primary focus of this will be how communities, like State College, handle urban stormwater runoff.

Instructor: Alan Sam, a Penn State graduate in forestry, recently retired from State College Borough as an arborist and sustainability coordinator after 32 years. Alan has led numerous tree walks throughout the Borough.

  • Participants should wear good walking shoes. The trail surfaces are covered with wood chips and gravel but may be uneven. Park along Walnut Spring Lane adjacent to the park.
