This course is rescheduled from April 11 to May 1, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
The health and well-being of every city and town are tied to the availability of fresh water. This is also the case for many of the plant and animal communities that we interact with daily. However, our interactions with land and water often threaten the safety of this renewable but finite resource. The good news is that there are steps we can take to protect our freshwater resources while still relying on them for our everyday needs. Come learn about multifunctional riparian buffers and how Penn State and its partners have implemented this practice to protect an important freshwater resource in the Centre Region and beyond.
Instructors: Mike Toolan is a staff member at Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center, where he coordinates and implements conservation projects for Penn State’s Musser Gap Greenway in Ferguson Township. Cathryn Pugh is a forestry and wildlife educator for Penn State Extension in Centre County. Her programs are focused on agroforestry, native plants, and youth education.
