Our changing climate is in the news every day, and the outlook does not appear good. But it’s hard to see fact from fiction in our complex and often deceptive information ecosystem. Dr. Najjar will provide you with reliable resources to help you figure out what we know and don’t know about our changing climate and the actions we can take to minimize negative impacts. A simple, publicly accessible computer model of the climate system will be introduced. Participants will use the model to test the impacts of various human actions on greenhouse gas emissions and the climate.

Instructor: Raymond Najjar is a professor of oceanography in the Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science at Penn State. He conducts research on how the ocean interacts with the rest of the climate system and is passionate about the role of science in informing our actions to address the climate crisis and ocean health. As such, Dr. Najjar values engagement with the public on all issues related to climate and oceanography.
