When Alfred Stieglitz and Georgia O'Keeffe met in 1916, he was an internationally acclaimed, avant-garde photographer, while she was a much younger unknown art teacher. Despite the power of Stieglitz’s ego and reputation, though, O’Keeffe proved his match when they fell in love. Passionate and independent, both reaped benefits – to varying degrees – from their personal and artistic exchanges. This course will explore their distinctive visions as well as the complexity of life and art between these creative titans.
