Make Mine Wine

1 Session | This program is completed

A little knowledge can go a long way toward increasing your enjoyment of wine. Nancy and Jim will guide participants through a tasting of several representative wines and talk about how to recognize desirable qualities in fine wine as we taste, evaluate, and compare. We'll discuss what to look for and enjoy as wine and food engage our senses. To that end, all will have a small plate of light food samples to pair with specific wines as we go.

Participants are welcome to make dinner reservations, at their own expense, with Pine Grove Hall following the course for an enjoyable evening.

Course fee includes $25 for supplies, wine, and food.

Instructors: Nancy Quarella, a Penn State graduate, is co-owner of Bellview Winery in Landisville, New Jersey. She and her husband, Jim, founded the winery in 2000, on the family farm. Today, with 50 acres of vineyards, award-winning wines, and great reviews from happy customers, the winery thrives. Nancy has given many beginner wine appreciation seminars and enjoys sharing Bellview wines to teach the basics of wine tasting and food pairing. Jim Quarella is the principal owner/founder of Bellview Winery, past president of the Garden State Wine Growers' Association and founder and past president of the Outer Coastal Plain Vineyard Association. After spending a lifetime in agriculture as fourth generation on the family farm, along with 24 years of managing all aspects of a busy winery, expert winemaking, establishing and nurturing many acres of vineyards, and consulting for new and existing wineries, he has a wealth of experience and knowledge to share. Jim loves to talk wine and wine making and is happy to answer questions and share insights. Nancy and Jim, new OLLI members, recently built a house outside of Stormstown. They look forward to a fun and educational evening and meeting new friends.
