A Day in The Life of Penn State Students and Athletes During World War II
1 Session | FULL
This program was developed to be presented in conjunction with the “I Am A Penn Stater” exhibit at the Penn State All-Sports Museum, which traces the involvement of more than 1,200 Penn State student-athletes in World War II. The course will show — through pictures, descriptions, statistics, etc. — what the Penn State campus and life of a typical student, in particular student-athletes, were like in the 1941–45 era.
Instructor: Bill Jones, a 1971 graduate of Penn State, is a registered architect, originally from the Scranton-Wilkes-Barre area, now living in State College. He has been a docent at the Penn State All-Sports Museum since 2019 and was instrumental in developing programs involving the museum’s current I Am A Penn Stater (Penn State Athletes in World War II) exhibit. In addition to his museum activities, he is an avid reader and Penn State sports fan who also enjoys walking/jogging and drawing/sketching.
Course activity level: exhibit walking with accessible areas.
- Participants will be standing for the duration of the course. This course is wheelchair accessible. Visitor campus parking (pay for parking) is available at several ParkMobile App/Paystations near Beaver Stadium.
