In understanding more about diabetes, family and friends will learn how to be supportive and helpful. The following topics will be discussed: diet, medication, healthy lifestyle, progression of diabetes, comorbidities, diabetes technology, complicating situations, problem-solving, and healthy coping.
Instructor: Amy Young is a nurse with a passion for helping people. She has worked as a rehabilitation nurse and a medical-surgical nurse, and Amy was an instructor at Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science and Technology teaching LPN students both in the classroom and at clinical. She is now a clinical diabetes educator for Mount Nittany Physicians Group. Amy loves teaching others how to manage their diabetes. She understands the many difficulties of living with diabetes and is a support to her patients and their families.
