Painting as a Hobby: Getting Started and Staying with It
1 Session | Registration opens 3/3/25 8:00 AM EST
Drawing and painting as a hobby is a creative process that can bring personal satisfaction and joy and relieve everyday stress. But this requires the right materials, a location to draw or paint, and time allocation. In our busy, and sometimes over-scheduled, daily lives, it is difficult to bring all those elements together. In this course, Dave will describe the creative process needed by those wanting to draw or paint and how to not only start painting, but to stay focused and continue on the process. For those who are interested in painting, yet may be hesitant or unsure on how to get started, Dave will discuss techniques and ways to get started and stay with it.
Instructor: Dave Brown, a 1971 graduate of West Point, is a retired engineering manager who managed the development of large airport projects for 30 years. Since elementary school, he has had an interest in the visual arts, specifically in drawing and painting. Twenty years ago, he rekindled his interest in painting, as a way to relieve work stresses. Since then, he has slowly developed a deeper interest in painting.
Course fee includes $5 for supplies.
- Participants will have an opportunity to try various mediums. Please wear comfortable clothing that you might get paint on.
