Girl Scouting Past and Present: More than Cookies and Camping

1 Session | FULL

There are more than 50 million Girl Scout alumnae in the United States. Are you one of them? How about your daughters and granddaughters? Learn how Girl Scouting began, how it has changed in the past 112 years, where it is today, and how it will serve girls as they become women in the future. Girl Scouting is so much more than cookies and camping.

Instructor: Sandy Lopez is a lifelong Girl Scout, beginning as a Brownie and leading to adult Girl Scouting when she became her daughter’s first troop leader. Today, Sandy is a National Volunteer Partner for Girl Scout USA. Professionally, Sandy has degrees in sociology and social work and was the director of various human service programs until she began 20 years of teaching and coordinating social sciences classes at Trident Technical College in Charleston, South Carolina. During this time, Sandy continued to volunteer with Girl Scouts.
