Vincent van Gogh at Saint-Rémy

1 Session | Registration opens 3/3/25 8:00 AM EST

Vincent van Gogh’s year at the sanatorium in Saint-Rémy was a prolific period. Often painting the gardens around the property or the wheat fields from a second-floor window, he completed about 150 paintings during his stay. Vincent preferred to paint in nature and on occasion was permitted to work in the olive groves outside the sanitarium as well. His iconic “Starry Night,” however, was painted from memory while restricted to his room right after his arrival. In addition to the subjects mentioned above, his painting of “Irises” and representations of the sanatorium itself will be shown.
