Ethical Challenges in the Torah
2 Session | Registration opens 3/3/25 8:00 AM EST
One of the teaching techniques of the Torah (the Five Books of Moses) is presenting complex stories in which the main characters must wrestle with ethical situations. There are often multiple “right paths,” and our Scripture study focuses on these possibilities and their implications. This course will study nine different stories in the Torah and consider many of the angles and lessons. Participants are encouraged to bring a Bible, though copies will also be available at the synagogue.
Instructor: Rabbi David Ostrich is the spiritual leader of Congregation Brit Shalom and a lecturer in Jewish Studies at Penn State.
Course dates are April 10 and 17.
