Tour of Millennium Science Complex

During a 90-minute tour, explore several levels of the Millennium Science Complex. Participants will tour lab spaces and discuss the unique arrangement of shared space within the building and see the “quiet” labs, which are vibration-free spaces housing powerful microscopes. There will be ample time to discuss the unique activities and instrumentation contained in this giant building.
Instructor: Mike Uchneat first graduated from Penn State in 1990 with a B.S. in horticulture and later finished a Ph.D. in genetics in 1997. Mike worked for more than 20 years in private industry as a commercial plant breeder and now works as a facility coordinator within the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences. Mike and his team are responsible for space in at least six buildings, comprising more than 80 individual labs, including multiple Core Facilities.
- The nearest campus visitor parking (pay for parking) is the East Parking Deck or the HUB Parking Deck. This is about a 10-minute walk. Meet inside the lobby of the West Wing of the building.
