Tour of Penn State’s Theatre Arts Production Studio

1 Session | Registration opens 3/3/25 8:00 AM EST

Come explore the Theatre Arts Production Studio (TAPS), which features a large, state-of-the-art, equipped scenic shop with adjacent properties shop and scenic paint studio. The costume shops include a main shop, where cutting and fitting are done; a millinery room; laundry and dying facilities; and a costume collection that exceeds a two-story, warehouse-sized room. These shops are used as classrooms for graduate and undergraduate students, as well as for Penn State Centre Stage productions.

Instructors: Chris Russo is an associate teaching professor and technical director of the School of Theatre. His previous experience includes associate professor of practice and technical director at Virginia Tech and head carpenter on Alegria while on a world tour with Cirque du Soleil.
John Geisz is the head carpenter and has worked for the School of Theatre for more than 25 years. He has worked at the Annenberg Center in Philadelphia and the American Repertory Theater at Harvard. He is a member of the American Institute of Steel Construction and the American Plywood Association.
