Taking Flight: Bellefonte Air Mail

Bellefonte's role in the history of air mail is still celebrated today, as is Mill Hall's Piper Aviation's significance in WWII. Pilots from across the national travel to Mifflin County to fly aircraft that have no motor. Hear from Cole Cullen, creative director for WPSU, who directed and developed the episode, Keystone Stories: Taking Flight, then watch the 26-minute episode to learn about aviation in our local area. Following the episode, Ken Martin will delve deeper into Bellefonte's role in the history of air mail.

Cole Cullen is the creative director for WPSU, who directs and develops WPSU series, "Keystone Stories." The series showcases stories of the people, places, and pastimes that make Pennsylvania great.
Brooke Greybush returned to Penn State Outreach and Online Education after working at Penn State World Campus more than a decade ago. Prior to joining WPSU, Brooke held positions in community engagement and development at the American Heart Association and the Johnstown and Altoona Symphonies. Brooke’s strong belief in public media and making connections within the 24-county listening area that WPSU serves will be evident in the interaction.
Ken Martin, a stamp collector since 1975, currently serves as the Director of Expertizing for the American Philatelic Society, the national organization for stamp collectors. Ken has served on a number of community boards including the Happy Valley Adventure Bureau, Historic Bellefonte, Inc, and Foxdale Village. He is also active in Rotary and has made over 500 donations of whole blood and platelets.
