Penn State atmospheric scientist discusses how tornadoes form, how meteorologists predict them, and what the future holds.
Instructor: Paul Markowski is a distinguished professor of meteorology and head of Penn State's Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science. He studies severe storms, particularly tornadoes, using field observations, computer simulations, and theory. He is a fellow of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and a recipient of the AMS & Meisinger Award, the National Weather Association’s Fujita Award, and the European Severe Storms Laboratory’s Dotzek Award.
