Learn to Knit: Basics
2 Session | Registration opens 8/25/25 8:00 AM EDT
Learn the basics of knitting in this two-session course. In the first session, you will learn how to cast on, use knit and purl stitches and increase and decrease stitches. The instructor and helpers will demonstrate initial stitches and watch you practice during the first session. Then you can practice more on your own and bring back your knitting with any questions or concerns about those various techniques to the second session. Then, we’ll learn how to vary your stitches to make a pattern and bind off your knitted product.
Course dates are October 13 and 27 with skipping a week in between to practice in between.

She learned to knit as a child at a local knitting shop near her hometown. She has knitted many things through the years, including lots of baby blankets and afghans. Carla participates in the OLLI knitting and crocheting SIG, where she enjoys seeing other people’s projects and learning new techniques from others in the group.
