Hollywood and the Holocaust examines how the Holocaust is portrayed in the movies. The course starts with the 1920s and how antisemitism shaped early Hollywood. Continuing, the course will go through the depiction of the Holocaust when WWII broke out, and how film was used for the war effort. The course will continue through to present day. 

Deb Smith has an MA in Holocaust and Genocide Studies. Currently, she is enrolled in the PhD program in Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Gratz College. She has completed the following education in Holocaust Studies: the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Belfer I Program 2008, the USHMM Belfer II Program 2009, the USHMM Fellowship Program 2013, JFR Fellowship 2014, HAJRTP Trip to Germany and Poland 2016.

tended the International Holocaust Conference at Yad Vashem 2018, was selected to volunteer with the USHMM CHEC program (2022-2023), and has taught music/theatre/Holocaust for 34 years.
