Have you ever wondered how the folks who write news and other interview shows get their content, decide what order it will go in and keep the show running on time? This course is a fun and interactive way to understand all of those elements. After some initial discussion to understand some key terms and ideas, the participants will work with the actual news writing software as a group, with assistance from the instructor, to put a news/chat show together.

Before the first day of class, the participants should jot down a few of their favorite or familiar news or chat style shows that are presented live. They should also have some ideas about possible interesting story ideas to pitch for the in-class mock show.

Scott Sinclair, a PSU 2020 graduate, was an adult learner during his college years. He is a morning news producer at WPMT Fox 43, producing  a feature-based morning show with live guest interviews and kitchen cooking segments.
